Failure can be your friend and it can do wonders for your life. Of course, it won’t be the kind of friend you hang out with and have fun with. It will be the kind that dishes out loads of tough love. It may seem odd to put a positive turn on something that is traditionally seen as a negative. But, if you have been asking yourself ‘How Can I change my life?’ then this move may be the right one to take.

Failure in life can be equated to a loss. It is like loosing a loved one or loosing a very good friend. No one expects you to bounce from it the second after you encounter it. So, if you think you need the time to gather yourself before you bounce back, then go ahead. But, you are also expected to eventually move on from your failure. This means that you have to always remember that failure is often just a speed bump and it is not a complete road block.

To help get a positive spin on any failure you encounter, you have to first dissect it. Look at the circumstances that lead up to it. Pick up on the specific details that were very instrumental in causing you failure. For example, if a work project fell through, look at it carefully. What could possibly have went wrong with what you did? Learn from your mistakes and make yourself better from it.

Be careful to look at things with an unbiased eye. Defensiveness won’t get you anywhere when you experience failure. Be open to accepting that you did something wrong.

However, sometimes failings won’t be a result of something you did. In some instances things that you could control may cause failures. In such situations, it is important that you learn to accept it as it is. Don’t keep beating yourself self up about it and just be sure to plan how to compensate with your problems.

So, stop asking yourself ‘How can I change my life?’ and start doing something to make things better for yourself. From now on, take whatever failures you are faced with as an opportunity. If you do not get the job that you want, stop to think and edit your moves. Figure out what you can do different the next time. Keep in mind that failure just adds to your life experience and it will make you that much stronger.
